Last week I completed the Microsoft Azure AI Fundamentals exam, AI-900 and achieving above the required 70% score for the 47 questions presented (you have 65 minutes to do the exam). As always and in the same vein as my other blog posts, here is some sharing the love to help others prepare for this certification. The kind of blog post I wish I had found when I was looking at doing the exam.
As usual, my own revision notes are at the end of the blog post.
So, AI-900 is Microsoft’s beginner exam on their Artificial Intelligence (AI) offering through Azure. All of the study material for the course is online on and free to access at https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/training/courses/ai-900t00#course-syllabus and there are various walkthrough videos on YouTube in which people give you their guided tour of the essentials.
Microsoft also provide a practice exam at https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/credentials/certifications/azure-ai-fundamentals//?practice-assessment-type=certification#certification-practice-for-the-exam and this is a good way to assess your readiness. I ‘reckon you need to be scoring 85% or above on practice tests to approach the real certification with confidence.
My take on the Microsoft Azure AI Fundamentals certification :
It is a good entry level for if you’re coming from an IT background and want an introduction to artificial intelligence. These days I believe it’s going to be essential to have a rudimentary grasp and this is what motivated me.
The course material can be read through in about 20 hours and includes some hands-on exercises on Azure which are worth doing to consolidate your knowledge.
